So. 

1. Given that my name can hardly get more generic, having a custom domain makes it a lot easier to have an email address that looks dignified on a resume.
2. Success! Adequately dignified email address acquired. 
3. Now I have a custom domain... with no website on it. This also is undignified, and besides it's probably useful to have some sort of website. What sort of website shall it be?
   
4. ... a blog?
